Well if evidence is based on observations in the field it must be, because I see so many disposers not properly installed. It is one of those frequent flyers in home inspections.

Having the wiring not properly installed and secured is a recipe for a bad day. All electrical connection and wiring need to be properly performed by a qualified party. Even if you do not think it is that hard.
