The adventure of Home Inspections profession always brings us new things to see and talk about.

Here we have a fun one. We all need a safe place. (Sure wish I had this when I was growing up. This is a perfect place to hold my sisters when things were not going well.)

This is actually a wall vault.

The inscription on the vault door says "Norris Safe & Lock Company" which was a retailer of safes, vaults and banking equipment here on the west coast, with offices in Seattle, Portland and Vancouver, Canada from the 1870's through about 1910.

The company would have had a bustling business for the gold rush years when Seattle was the starting point for the gold prospectors heading to Alaska to find (most likely loose) their fortunes. Good safes would come in handy. How it made its way to Wenatchee is anyones guess. Maybe to hold the riches of an Apple Orchard Mogul?

From a home inspectors perspective though they will need to get the combination and make sure the kids do not lock each other in, on the other hand...
